Perla Bechara – EB8

There’s never a day that should go by where we don’t recognize the efforts our mothers put on the daily. Perla Bechara of EB8A wrote a beautiful poem where she expresses her love and gratitude to her mother.

To my mother:

With each year I grow older

I’m beginning to see

how much of yourself you have sacrificed.

And how much you gave me

No one asked you to do what you did

No one had to say a thing

Because love was the fuel that got you through

Each sleepless night

And early morning

There are times I should have voiced to you

The gratitude I felt within

But I find it quite hard to say it all.

When I don’t know where to begin

You always say how lucky you are.

But I’m sure I’m the lucky one

You might have been blessed with me

But I get to call you my mom.
