“Howdy” serves as the warm greeting exchanged between students and instructors at Texas A&M University. Known for its excellence in education, Texas A&M University at Qatar offers high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering, science, and technology.
This institution showcases the ingenuity and artistry of engineering through various avenues, such as the STEM activity: The Pinewood Derby Competition, now in its second iteration. In this activity, Lila Chatah and Mariam El Masri of Grade 8B were expected to use science and physics to engineer the fastest car in Qatar using creativity and innovation. They designed and built our own pinewood derby cars by turning a simple block of wood into an unpowered, unmanned, miniature car and gravity raced them down the track. While having a bunch of fun racing, they also learned and experimented in the engineering of these speedsters by exploring topics such as potential and kinetic energy, friction, air resistance, weight distribution, and statistics.
