Melanie El Sokhen from EB8B wrote a beautiful poem as a tribute to Lebanon. Please check it out below!
Whispers of Lebanon
In valleys deep, where cedars stand
The echoes rise across the land.
Once songs of joy and laughter free
Now hushed by pain, a lost decree.
Mountains watch with solemn grace
As shadows fall on every place.
From Beirut’s heart to village stone
A land in mourning, cold as bone.
Children’s cries, the mothers’ tears
Years of sorrow, piled in years.
Rubble of dreams and tales once told
Homes in fragments, hearts grown cold.
Yet in the dust, a flame remains
Flickers of hope through endless chains.
Though thunder roars and darkness reigns
Lebanon rises, shakes her chains.
For even in the longest night
A spark of love defies the fight.
Through all the scars, her spirit pure
Lebanon’s heart will yet endure.
