World Read Aloud Day

“Literacy is… the road to human progress and the means through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full potential.” -Kofi Annan

On the 2nd of February, our preschoolers and English Primary cycle 1 students celebrated The World Read Aloud Day, an annual event by Scholastic that aims at raising awareness on the power of reading and supporting literacy as a human right. Students brought their favorite books to school and read them aloud. They also engaged in fun activities; while our preschoolers designed crowns and colored them, our cycle 1 students signed and recited a literacy pledge and designed their own bookmarks. The World Read Aloud Day is reading for the joy of reading!
